A Description of the Secret Sister Program
What is a Secret Sister?
A Secret Sister is woman that attends The House of Joy Church (HOJC) who wishes to participate in the Secret Sister. This year in October the HOJC ladies had a fun get together to choose a person who will be our Secret Sister for the next year. Each lady that wishes to participate fills out a form that tells information about herself. Some of the information may be:

Why would you want a secret sister?
The best reason for having a secret sister is that she prays for you and your family everyday. In today's world, women live a super busy, sometimes stressful, sometimes hurtful and painful; and sometimes sickness comes. It is so helpful to know that someone else cares and is lifting you to God each day, praying for you in their understanding and also praying for you as God leads them to pray. God does answer prayer and sometimes, a Secret Sister's prayer will be prayed and answered when we don't have the faith for ourselves.
Yes, it's fun to receive small inexpensive gifts for our birthdays and other holidays. These just show that the Secret Sister is cared about.
Why do we keep it a Secret?
By keeping the Secret Sister a secret, we promote a closeness between all the women of HOJC. Because of the love and caring the person who has our name generates by her prayers, her gifts, and her kindnesses to us; and since we don't know who that person is; we feel that love and caring for all the women of HOJC.
What are the responsibilities of having a Secret Sister?
| Pray Daily for her especially for area's that she has noted that need prayer. Let God lead you in how, when, and what to pray for her. |
| Each month, send a Card that lets her know that you care and are praying for her. You may mail the card or send an e-card (as long as she can't trace it to you) from such place as www.Amazon.com |
| Give a small gift (under $10.00) for her birthday, anniversary, and major holiday's. Consult her list of hobbies, room themes, restaurants, and candy and find or make something unique for her. Gifts can be mailed, left in the Pastor's reception room, or given to Regenia. |
| At the October Secret Sister Party, bring a small gift and prepare to receive a big hug and thank-you. |
| If you can no longer participate in the Secret Sister program, please contact Regenia so she may find your secret sister another sister. |
Secret sisters is great. It is fun to try to guess who your sister is and also rewarding to pray for them and see God moving in their lives. It has strengthened our Ladies and brought many happy moments into their lives. For information on starting your secret sister program, e-mail us.
