I Will Worship
by Darryl Manning May 20, 2001
· Exuberant (high spirited, brash, ardent, passionate, effervescent, enthusiastic)
· Jubilant (rejoicing, exultant, triumphant, elated, exhilarated, overjoyed, ecstatic, euphoric)
· Extravagant (excessive, exorbitant, immoderate, lavish, inordinate)
We are asking for God’s presence to fill our church to a level that will bring about:
“complete healing and restoration to our lives through the fullness of His presence and we will “rejoice with an inexpressible and glorious joy” like St. Peter wrote in 1 Peter 1:8.”
We will see this come to pass only if we move to a higher level of worship. Today we will look at the greatest worshipper in the Bible, David of the Old Testament
God said this about David: ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’
Today we will look at some of the keys as to why David was a great worshipper.
Ps. 7 17 I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness, And will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
Ps. 9: 1 I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. 2 I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.
Ps. 13: 6 I will sing to the LORD, Because He has dealt bountifully with me.
Ps. 16: 7 I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel;…
Ps. 18: 1 I will love You, O LORD, my strength….3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.
Ps. 22: 49 Therefore I will give thanks to You, O LORD, among the Gentiles, And sing praises to Your name.
Ps. 26: 12 My foot stands in an even place; In the congregations I will bless the LORD.
Ps. 27: 6 And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD….8 When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”
Ps. 28: 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.
Ps. 30: 1 I will extol You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up, And have not let my foes rejoice over me. 2 O LORD my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me….12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
Ps. 31: 7 I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy…
Ps. 341 I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. 3 Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together.
Ps. 35: 18 I will give You thanks in the great assembly; I will praise You among many people.
· David’s worship was not based only on feelings. He chose to worship.
· God has created us with a free will – we can choose to worship or choose to not worship. In this age, He does not coerce worship.
2Sam. 6: 14Then David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod. 15So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet. 16Now as the ark of the LORD came into the City of David, Michal, Saul’s daughter, looked through a window and saw King David leaping and whirling before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.
Mark 12:30 30And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.
Strength =forcefulness:—ability, might ([-ily]), power, strength.
20Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, “How glorious was the king of Israel today, uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servants, as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!”
21So David said to Michal, “It was before the LORD, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the LORD. 22And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight…
23Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death.
· If you worship like David you cannot be ashamed or embarrassed
· If you worship like David you will be despised by some
· If you worship like David you
