House of Joy Church Grace Givers
We have been guilty, like many other churches of
having taught the tithe in a legalistic way. Since God
has given us a greater revelation on tithing we need to
continue to share that revelation so that all our
Ministry Partners can begin receiving the total blessing
that is available from being a generous and cheerful
giver; what I call a Grace Giver.
The tithe means ten percent of your increase. It was
decreed in the Old Covenant as a law that must be kept
before one could expect a blessing from God. There were
curses listed for those who failed to pay the tithe.
The New Covenant supplanted the Old, and cancelled
the curses.
Galatians. 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse
of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is
written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a
tree"£), 14that the blessing of Abraham might come
upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus…
This means that if you don't pay tithes, you are not
going to be put under a curse. It means that no longer
do you have to pay tithes. It means that now you can
give what God has put in your heart to give.
2 Corinthians 3: 7So let each one give as he purposes
in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God
loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all
grace abound toward you, that you, always having all
sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for
every good work. 9As it is written: "He has
dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His
righteousness endures forever."£
God does not want you to give if it is not in your
heart to do so. He does not want you to give out of
necessity thinking judgment will fall if you don't give.
God wants you to be able to give with a cheerful heart,
knowing that your giving will trigger abundance not only
you but for the needs of those around you. You will
become the generous man mentioned here and first
recorded in Psalm 112. (Read there and see what God
wants for you as a generous person.)
God has redeemed us from the curse if we do wrong,
however, he did not do away with the blessing if we do
right. There are multitudes of promises in the Bible of
blessing to those who give and are generous.
A grace giver is one who is not giving out of fear,
obligation, or legalism. A grace giver is one who gives
out of gratitude and love. A grace giver knows that God
will always supply abundance so giving is never a loss
but always a gain.
A grace giver doesn't have to give the tithe to be
blessed. Just give according to the faith God has worked
in your heart. Then every gift given is a grace gift, no
matter how big or small it may be. Then the blessings
will come and multiply and you will become the generous
person of Psalm 112 and reap an ever increasing
blessing.
