HOJC Logo Images |
HOJC has defined an image as a graphic where as a picture is a photo (they are both really images but we separate them for distinction and categorization). An image may be used as a page graphic, a watermark, etc. A Watermark is a background image behind the words. A graphic you would want to be distinct but a watermark you may wish for some fade.
One of the main thing to know about images is that the bigger they are, the more time it takes to download it and the slower the page load response time. Size of the Images below are shown in KB. Anything less than 100 KB will download fast. Above that, use the Image with discretion.
Remember, these HOJC Logo's are copyrighted and HOJC has given you the right to use them on the HOJC Personal WebPages. If you use them elsewhere that does not point to the HOJC web page, you must obtain permission from HOJC.
To add a picture to your website: click on the picture to enlarge it to is real size (the ones shown with a border are in thumbnail size), click the larger picture, select save, select directory and name to save it to, then save. You now have the Picture in your directory. Every HOJC Personal WebPages has a directory called "images". For best use of images (because you invariably reuse images time after time), save all your images to this page. By having your images in one directory, you don't have to hunt through many directories for a specific image. For example, if you save more than one image from the selection below, create a subdirectory called HojcImages and save the images there. Now it is easy to find.
These are some of the HOJC images we have on file. The first two rows have from smallest to largest. The third row is other kinds of HOJC images.
To hyperlink a HOJC image:
In Frontpage, right click on the image and select picture properties. Type in "Click here for The House of Joy Homepage" in the Alternative Representation Text (this is the text that will show up on your page when you mouse over something). Then under Default Hyperlink Location, copy and paste the following "http://www.hojc.org" then in the Target Frame click on the pencil, select "Whole Page" then save that (OK) then save (OK) the picture properties. You now have a link. To test it, put your cursor over the link in Frontpage, it will say "Use control-click to follow a hyperlink" so you know that it worked.
In Microsoft Publisher, as sherry.
